Bringing the Gospel to the Philippines: U-Turn For Christ’s 2026 Mission Trip

For the U-Turn For Christ mission team, traveling to the Philippines is more than just an annual trip—it is a continuation of a deep, ongoing calling to share God's love. Founded by Pastor Gerry Brown, the ministry recently partnered with three Calvary Chapels from California to bring the Gospel, lead Vacation Bible Schools, and provide practical aid to the islands.

From the bustling streets of local barangays to the airwaves of Borongan City, the 2026 mission trip was a profound testament to faith, service, and the incredible hunger for the Word of God in the Philippines.

A Heart for the Filipino People

Ask anyone on the U-Turn For Christ team what makes the Philippines so special, and they will tell you it is the people. The team has consistently praised the warmth, hospitality, and undeniable friendliness of the locals, noting how beautifully open and receptive Filipinos are to accepting the Word of God.

Of course, the team also thoroughly enjoys the local culture. Between ministry stops, they soak in the beauty of the Philippine beaches and cherish the small, everyday joys—like waking up to the local vendor on his walking motorcycle, selling freshly cooked pandesal with cheese along the road.

Divine Appointments and Miracles in the Streets

The team hit the ground running the moment they arrived, diving immediately into community outreach and a hospital ministry that Pastor Gerry described as "such a blessing." But perhaps the most beautiful moments happened in the unplanned, quiet interactions.

While in town, the team stopped at a local cake shop just as the owner was closing up. In a wonderful act of kindness, she reopened her doors so they could purchase a birthday cake for Reagan. In a true divine appointment, the team crossed paths with the exact same shop owner later that day while doing street evangelism. They were able to share the Gospel with her, and she joyfully accepted Jesus into her heart—a powerful reminder of how simple acts of kindness open the door for salvation!

Expanding the Global Family

The mission trip highlighted just how deeply rooted the U-Turn for Christ family has become in the Philippines across multiple generations:

• Olongapo City: The team celebrated the work being done 2.5 hours south of Manila by Pastor Al-John (brother-in-law to Pastor Ron Brown), who leads U-Turn for Christ Olongapo.
• San Julian Outreach: Pastor Gerry was deeply encouraged when a local man shared that the mission teams had ministered to his children years ago, and are now faithfully ministering to his grandchildren.
• Equipping the Next Generation: The team hosted an inspiring Youth Conference to strengthen young leaders, and celebrated Carlo, a Bible College graduate who is now stepping into an internship under Pastor Lemuel at Calvary Chapel Lalawigan.
• Community Bonds: The team also hosted a special Bible study with the local fire department, spending time building relationships and letting the children explore the fire trucks.

Taking the Gospel to the Airwaves

While street evangelism and community service are the core of their work, the team also utilized local media to amplify their reach. KJM 94.3 FM is always honored to be one of the venues the team visits to broadcast their message of hope.

This year, team members like Josiah and Albert from U-Turn For Christ Perris took to the microphones to share the Gospel globally. It was a beautiful multi-generational effort: Pastor Greg and Jose (Pepper) shared the studio with their daughters, Regan and Zofia, while Pastor Gerry was joined by his granddaughter, Jaylin. Listeners were even treated to a live, spirit-filled flute performance by Regan!

Faithfully Moving Forward

The trip was not without its trials, but the power of prayer prevailed. The global church family rallied in prayer for Pastor Wad's wife and Pastor Ron, who showed miraculous improvement and was able to sit up before the team helped transition him home for further care.

Now safely back home from the Philippines, Pastor Gerry and the entire U-Turn For Christ team leave behind a trail of encouraged churches, newly saved hearts, and a strengthened global family. The seeds planted during this trip will undoubtedly continue to grow, and the local communities—and airwaves—eagerly await their return.
